Africa Policy Research Network (APORENet) was formed
at the end of 2001 by a group of professionals based in London who had
a shared interest in issues affecting members of the African community
in the UK and in Africa. |

The main reason behind the setting up of the organization
was partly to respond to the likely impact of the Human Rights Act 1998
which incorporated the European Convention on Human Rights into the UK
domestic law and which had come into force in October 2000. It was also
envisaged that APORENet would act as a Think-tank on other issues affecting
members of the African community in the UK. |
